SUPPORT GROUPS & WEBSITES IN MALAYSIA

If you have recently been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer or advanced lung cancer, we understand just how stressful it can be. Having various resources such as websites and support groups on hand can offer patients diagnosed with cancer a small peace of mind. There are many foundations and organisations in Malaysia ready to help guide you through your diagnosis and treatment. We have listed a few organisations in Malaysia that either provide at-home care and/or online support programs that you may find helpful.

  • BREAST CANCER WELFARE ASSOCIATION MALAYSIA (BCWA)

  • The BWCA is a self-help support group. Its members are breast cancer survivors, family members and friends of breast cancer patients, related professionals and volunteers who help provide psychological and emotional support, information and education. Pink Inspirer is a metastatic breast cancer support group under BCWA.

  • LUNG CANCER NETWORK MALAYSIA (LCNM)

  • LCNM is a non-commercial, non-governmental organisation dedicated solely and exclusively to addressing all aspects and stages of lung cancer in Malaysia. It brings together medical professionals in the lung cancer field, providing training and education, as well as promoting and advocating to the public the knowledge of lung cancer, in order to improve patients’ treatment outcomes.

  • The Cancerlink Foundation is an organisation that provides care and support to cancer patients. Among its projects are the home-stay program based in Petaling Jaya, which provides free lodging for cancer patients and their family members, food and transport to the hospital for treatment. Counselling is available and entry is determined through hospital references.

  • Kasih Hospice Care Society

    Kasih Hospice Care Society is a non-profit organisation that provides medical, psychological, emotional and spiritual support to people with life threatening diseases such as breast cancer, HIV/Aids, and end stage organ failure. All of Kasih Hospice Care Society’s services are free of charge and provided by dedicated doctors, nurses and volunteers, both at hospitals and at home.

  • The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), is the first not-for-profit cancer organisation in Malaysia that provides education, care and support services for people affected by cancer and the general public. NCSM supports patients in understanding and dealing with cancer in various phases through its five cancer centres- the Cancer and Health Screening Clinic, Nuclear Medicine Centre, Resource and Wellness Centre, Quit Smoking Clinic and the Children’s Home of Hope.
